Church of Our Saviour at Oatlands. The church building is sited at the high point of a hill (currently a lovely vineyard) which allows it to preside over the site and the adjacent stretch of Rte. 15. The entry road winds up to the building, providing an interesting and unfolding visual arrival sequence.
Parking is located behind and to the side of the church, so that the approach to the building is not marred by a "sea of cars" in front of it. A manicured lawn surrounded by graceful trees and a walking path provided a visual and functional forecourt for the church.
Future buildings such as a Parish Hall and Education Building may be located alongside the lawn to create a spatial edge to the green and the sense of a village which can grow over time, always with the church at its heart.
