Mount Pleasant, SC
These sketches were produced by PAPA for Sacred Spaces Liturgical Design, in support of their work with St. Benedict Catholic Church. PAPA was asked to provide a new design proposal for a Sanctuary Arch that would integrate with the architecture of the church, which was under construction at the time. The church was designed by another architectural firm. The new Sanctuary Arch design was intended to convey a sense of the sacred and of hierarchy, without undermining the underlying architectural order of the building, and without burdening the church with undue cost. PAPA was also asked to develop paving and flooring materials patterns that would integrate with the pew layout while emphasizing the procession to the altar and the sacred nature of the Sanctuary.
