Martha's Vineyard, MA

New 15,000 SF, $8M airport terminal with General Aviation FBO and development of roadways, parking and infrastructure and runway / taxiway improvements. Natural materials of wood and metal were used to create a sculptural rhythm of structure, which is bathed in indirect daylight through clerestory lighting. The same clerestory lighting works in tandem with operable windows at ground level to allow natural ventilation of the space in temperate months, saving energy. Natural plantings are layered with the architecture to cool the air as it is drawn into the building.
